President Vizcarra: More Than 150,000 visitors expected for Pan American Games

Peruvian president, Martin Vizcarra, claimed that the country has a huge tourism potential that will be driven by the joint work of private companies, the population and the authorities. During the inauguration of Peru Travel Mart 2019, the president stressed that the Government works to promote tourism in the country, the private sector has the important task to diversify the tourist offer. He said that the development of the country had been based, in recent years, on very important economic sectors such as mining, but now the bases must be built so that tourism achieves greater growth that benefits everyone.

The maximum authority of the country also pointed out that the next XVIII Pan American Games and VI Parapan American Games, to be held in July, are a great opportunity to show the world the wonders that the country has throughout the national territory. “We are two months away from the Pan American Games, there will be 8,000 athletes from 41 countries, but 150,000 people will also arrive to see the sports competitions and they want to know the country and our gastronomy. We have to give them all the possibilities to achieve their goal”, he said. The president added that this important sporting event will also be a “great showcase” that will promote Peru, since 400 million spectators in various countries of the world will see the competitions live.
