The Ministry of Production (Produce) estimated that formal pisco production would reach the 7.4 million liters this year, registering a growth of 6.5% compared to 2018. The vice minister of small and medium-sized enterprises and Industry Óscar Graham, explained that this result would be driven by the favorable evolution of domestic demand and the different campaigns to promote our flagship beverage, developed by the National Pisco Commission (Conapisco), such as the National Contest of Pisco and the National Day of Pisco Sour.
“The sector has been growing around 7% a year in the last decade. Only between 2013 and 2018 the formal production of pisco had an expansion of 57%, going from 4 million to almost 7 million liters, which reveals that the trend continues to rise”, Graham said after announcing that between July 26 and 29 the great Expoferia will take place in the Friendship Park. This event, which will be held in partnership with the Municipality of Santiago de Surco, is part of the different activities that Produce will carry out for the commemoration of the 20 years of the institution of the National Day of the Pisco, celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July.
