Peruvian coffee gets a new international recognition. The ‘Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Valle de Incahuasi’, directed by Lucio Luque Vasquez, won the first place in the Coffee Awards SPP – Symbol of Small Producers. This cooperative, located in the district of Incahuasi in Cusco, has 480 members among small producers and specialists in the production of fine coffees. Its samples were presented to the SPP organization and chosen first place among participating cafes from all over the world. “In this way, once again, Peru demonstrates that it has exceptional coffees and is at the level of the great producing countries”, said Geni Fundes, manager of the Coffee and Cacao Plant. The members of the CAC Incahuasi export their organic coffees to the demanding markets of the United States, Canada, Sweden, Germany and Saudi Arabia, where their high quality is recognized.
This is not the first time that Peru achieves the highest award in this international competition. Last year, the top prize went to the Central Cooperatives of the Valleys of Sandia (Cecovasa) and their representatives from Puno. This year Cusco won the prize with its Bourbon and Geisha varieties, with quality profiles of 97.70 points, according to the standards of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA).
