Peru’s Northern Macroregion farming exports increased 11% to US$1.099 billion in the first half of 2019, privately-run Perucamaras has reported.
According to Perucamaras, this sector had the second-highest share in the northern area’s export structure.
The main exported products were avocados (US$243 million, +23.8%) and mangoes (US$142.9 million (-10.8%).
They were followed by animal feed (US$94.8 million, -3.1%), bananas (US$83.8 million, -6.8%), and cranberries (US$76.2 million, 58.7%).
Likewise, Perucamaras’ Business Research Centre (CIE) indicated that Lambayeque region’s farming exports accounted for the largest share of total export value.
On the other hand, fishing sector sales rose 3.5% to US$578.9 million.
Meanwhile, non-traditional shipments reached US$1.893 billion, a 6.6% expansion compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, traditional exports totaled US$1.672 billion, a decrease of 9.6%.
