Peru: Larco Museum again ranked among top 25 in the globe

Larco Museum in Lima was included in the latest list of top museums in the world released by TripAdvisor —the world’s largest travel site.

The full list features 25 sites with Larco Museum in 20th place.

The first time a Peruvian institution joined the ranking —since TripAdvisor established the Travelers’ Choice Awards in 2002— was last year when Larco Museum ranked 22nd place.

According to Larco Director Andres Alvarez-Calderon, the museum is more than an exhibition hall of ceramics.

“We offer a unique experience. An engaging narrative about Peruvian history,” he told Andina news agency.

The spokesperson explained that museums are the main attractions of big cities. He mentioned the Louvre in Paris, Prado in Spain, and MoMA in Nueva York, to name a few.

This recognition —he commented— will serve as a reminder of the good selection of museums Peruvians can visit in the Inca country for the first time ever.

For instance, the capital city hosts Lima Art Museum (MALI), Pedro de Osma Museum, Amano Museum, and Contemporary Art Museum (MAC).

Likewise, he underscored the upcoming opening of National Pachacamac Museum —a remarkable fact given the size of the project.
