Agricultural production will register a 6% increase in 2018, mainly underpinned by agro-exports’ good performance, Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Gustavo Mostajo has affirmed.
The Minagri head indicated 2018 has been very important for the sector, adding the figures posted this year have surpassed the numbers from previous ones.
It should be noted the projected rise for 2018 (6%) is higher than the one recorded last year (2.6%).
According to the official, the goal is to reach US$7 billion in agro-exports by year-end. They currently amount to US$6.8 billion.
Likewise, Minister Mostajo pointed out agricultural shipments have posted an average increase of 12% over the last five years.
Therefore, products such as giant squid, blueberries, grapes, and avocados have entered Europe’s and Asia’s most demanding markets.
