Two Peruvian treks among top trips for active adventures in 2019

Two spectacular journeys through Peru’s most notable attractions were named among 2019’s top trips for active adventures in a list released by UK’s prestigious travel magazine Wanderlust.

These must-see tourist attractions are the breathtaking Rainbow Mountain and the UNESCO-listed remains of Kuelap.

According to the magazine, these unforgettable trips will get your adrenaline flowing, thighs sighing and hearts soaring.

Rainbow Mountain

Among the many reasons to visit Peru are its spectacular geography and archaeological sites for adventure travel.

In fact, the article claims that the scenery around the multi-colored mountain —located in Cusco region— is just unbelievable.

“Even when you see Peru’s Rainbow Mountain up close, you might not believe your eyes. But its ochre, sea green and scarlet stripes are real,” reads the description.

On the other hand, the publication warns that “trekking at high altitude across the Andes, and wild camping along the way, makes this a challenging trip, yet worth it for those out-of-this-world views.”

Kuelap

Additionally, the Kuelap Fortress —Amazonas region’s most popular tourist attraction— and its surrounding area are mentioned as must-stop spots in a journey recommended by Wanderlust.

“Tucan Travel’s new tailor-made Northern Peru itinerary is a journey through some of the region’s most notable attractions, including the remote hiking-base town of Chachapoyas, the UNESCO-listed remains of Kuelap, carved clifftop tombs, and the 771m Gocta Waterfall,” it states.

It must be noted Peru claims two places on this Top Nine List.
