The Rupac pre-Inca sanctuary, located 3,500 meters above sea level in the Huaral province, Lima region, has become the most attractive for domestic and foreign tourists in terms of Lima’s Short Routes, said the president of the Hotel, Restaurant and Allied Association of Huaral, Rosa Elena Balcázar. “The Rupac citadel has been visited by Peruvian and world tourists, who are amazed by its architecture” , said the business leader during a speech.
Within 20 years of having declared Rupac as Cultural Heritage of the Nation, she recalled that they pushed for the so-called “Machu Picchu Limeño” has such recognition.
“Now, the Peasant Community of San Salvador de Pampas has been the first in Peru to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Culture in order to preserve the archaeological site”, said the business leader. In this regard, Balcázar said that the government promises have to be fulfilled with the purpose of converting Rupac into a great tourist and salable product worldwide.
She also said that the commitment of local, regional and central government authorities was obtained to develop projects for the protection and conservation of the archaeological site. “This way we will achieve social and sustainable development, especially responsible for tourism in the province of Huaral”, she noted.
